Double Gold for STFC Athletes at Canada Games

Friday was a golden day for Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland, as two standout athletes with the Saskatoon Track and Field Club (STFC) claimed the top step of the podium.

Olaloku Strikes Gold in Triple Jump

Olamide Olaloku soared to victory in the women’s triple jump, winning gold with a leap of 12.23m. Her performance highlighted both her technical precision and competitive edge, securing Saskatchewan’s first field event gold of the Games.

Werner Wins 400m Title

On the track, Tayen Werner delivered a brilliant race in the women’s 400m final, capturing the gold medal in a time of 54.40 seconds. Werner’s smooth stride and strong finish proved unbeatable as she crossed the line ahead of the field.

These two victories build on a strong week for Saskatchewan athletes. Earlier in the Games, Logan Kok earned decathlon bronze with a provincial U20 record, while Claire Norek secured a silver medal in the wheelchair shot put. With Olaloku and Werner’s triumphs, STFC athletes now boast medals of every colour in Athletics.
