Para Athletics at STFC

Para athletics is track and field for athletes with physical, visual, or intellectual impairments. Events mirror able-bodied competition and are adapted with classifications and supportive equipment.

All ages and abilities are welcome! Ambulatory athletes train fully within our developmental groups, while seated throwers may have separate practice times. Practices are offered 2–4 times per week

Events Offered:

  • Track: Sprints (100m–400m), Middle (800m, 1500m), Long (5,000m, 10,000m), Relays
  • Road: Marathon
  • Jumping: High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump
  • Throwing: Discus, Shot Put, Club Throw, Javelin

Para athletics offers opportunities for athletes at every stage. From beginners trying the sport
for fun, to athletes aiming for the Paralympic Games.

Local: Try events at STFC practices and local meets across Saskatchewan

National: Competitions like Legion National Youth Championships, National Track & Field Tour, Canadian Championships

International: World Para Athletics Championships, Parapan American Games, Paralympic Games

Canada has a proud history in the sport, with athletes reaching the
podium at every Paralympic Games since 1968.

No matter the level, there are opportunities to grow, compete, and be part of a supportive community in para athletics.
